Biography

CEO, Naasakle Ltd. 2003 to date:
I started packaging and selling small quantities of shea butter to my friends in the Washington, D.C. area in 1999. I soon cultivated a number of loyal customers and increased the quantity that I market to 500lbs. Desirous to become more involved in the shea butter trade and find solution to quality issues I was facing, I attended conferences on shea butter in Washington. D.C. in 2002 and Bamako, Mali in 2003. After learning more about the industry, examining issues with quality standards and seeing how shea butter was made in Malian villages and Burkina Faso, I decided to go into production myself and built the factory in Ghana in 2003. We currently employ 18 women in the factory and provide them with salaries above the government approved rates, free medical, transportation allowance and bonus. We have a production capacity of 32 tons a month and are in the process of purchasing additional machinery that will increase our capacity to 100 tons a month.
